Alyssa Bai is a graduate of DePaul University's School of Cinematic Arts, where she received her B.F.A. in Film and Television, with a Documentary Concentration. Her curiosity for the digital medium began at an early age and eventually grew into an admiration for the craft of filmmaking upon completing New York Film Academy's Digital Filmmaking Program at their Los Angeles campus in 2015. There, she learned the fundamentals of screenwriting, directing, and editing, and had the exciting opportunity to shoot her first-ever short film called THE BUCKET LIST on the backlot sets at Universal Studios.
In 2016, she went on to attend the School of Visual Arts' Pre-College Program in New York City, where she further honed her filmmaking skills and worked closely with active industry professionals. As a collective team, she directed and edited a short film called TIM FOIL, which later screened at SVA Theatre. Alyssa's passion for the craft ultimately led her from Los Angeles to Chicago in 2018, where she began her full-time pursuit of a career in film and television at DePaul University.
Alyssa is now an LA-based assistant editor at Deutsch (ADWEEK's 2024 U.S. Agency of the Year, one of Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies of 2024) / Omnicom Production and previously got her start in the industry at the Clio Entertainment award-winning agency Revolve, where she assisted in crafting a diverse slate of trailers and campaigns for film and television. Over the past decade, her work has spanned features, short films, music videos, commercials, and trailers for documentary and narrative projects.
Some of her dream career highlights thus far have been working on the teasers for MILEY CYRUS: ENDLESS SUMMER VACATION (BACKYARD SESSIONS), the trailer and spots for ED SHEERAN: THE SUM OF IT ALL, the spots for Ad Council's LOVE YOUR MIND campaign, and the reimagining of Ang Lee's 1993 feature film THE WEDDING BANQUET, which made its premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival.

She’s especially passionate about increasing the visibility of underrepresented communities, and her career goal is to connect as many people of different cultures and backgrounds as possible through film, television, and media, and show that there are truly, far more things we have in common than those that divide us.
She is an active member of Women in Nonfiction, Asian American Documentary Network, Alliance of Documentary Editors, The Video Consortium, Brown Girls Doc Mafia, and Blue Collar Post Collective.
